Entry into Made.com Emerging Talent 2016 Awards
Could Bobbie Print be Made.com's next top designer? Well, who knows but this week I entered Flock of Birds in Midnight to the Made.com Emerging Talent Awards 2016, so fingers crossed and let's wait and see!
The brief from Made.com was to design something that either, saves space, multitasks or helps to create a tranquil home setting for people living in urban communities. You could answer the brief with a product or design which was either functional or stylish.
Flock of Birds was inspired by the wildlife seen in the countryside which can be found so close to Glasgow. Silhouettes of birds seen in flight have been developed into a simple, pared down piece of wall art, beginning as hand drawn sketches and illustrations, the imperfections of the initial drawings have been kept to give a more relaxed and laid back style to the final print.
Combining the craftsmanship of hand screen printing techniques with a modern design aesthetic, this print encompasses not only it’s own personal design story but the beauty of the time taken to produce it by hand, this piece of wall art can be valued not only aesthetically but also in appreciating the authenticity of it's manufacture.
Whilst modern in feel, Flock of Birds strives for a longevity beyound fast paced, seasonal trends and aims to become a long cherished possession, becoming part of an eclectic and meaningful interior style, curated and collected over time.
Understated in style with a fun and playful touch, this piece would contribute to the creation of a tranquil and restful interior, reminding those inside of peaceful days spent outside, bringing a little of nature into the interior.
